Analysis of Breast Biopsies

Abstract
|
|
|
1. The authors analysed 129 cases of breast biopsy at General Surgery of Pusan National University Hospital during the period of 5 years and 7 months from January 1964 to July 1969.
2. Of 32 cases felt to be clinically benign neoplasm, 9.4 percent were malignant and of 70 cases felt to be clinically malignant, 27.2 percent were non-malignant; benign neoplasm 7.1 percent, dysplasia 13.0 percent and inflammation 7.1 percent. And 5 cases regarded as inflammatory lesion and dysplasia on physical examination were malignant neoplasm on biopsy.
In our series, the diagnostic accuracy was 65.7 percent on physical examination of malignant neoplasm and undetermined cases including technical error were 3.1 percent.
